Trek Adds Long-Travel 29ers, Brings Project One Offroad

Trek on Friday announced several new long-travel 29er mountain bike models and announced it would offer its Project One custom bike program on several mountain bike models. Project One had previously been available only for road and triathlon bikes.

The new 29er models combine Gary Fisher's 29er geometry with Trek's rear suspension technology, including the comapny's Active Braking Pivot and Full-Floater features and its Dual-rate Control Valve shocks.

The Remedy 29 is a 140 millimeter travel bike that comes in five sizes across three aluminum-framed models.

The new Fuel EX has 120 millimeters of travel and comes in six sizes across four stock aluminum models and four stock carbon models.

“The ride quality of these two platforms will surpass the expectations of even the pickiest singletrack connoisseurs,” promised Travis Ott, Treks global MTB brand manager. “Bringing Trek’s suspension tech together with Fisher’s G2 geometry has resulted in amazing trail bikes that are exactly what riders are hoping for from Trek.”

Custom MTBs

The new Fuel EX 9.9 29er is one of the three mountain bike models that Trek has added to its custom Project One program. The other two models in the program are the Superfly 9.9 SL and the Superfly 100 9.9 SL.

The program allows customers to choose paint schemes and parts for the bikes.

“Customization is at the core of what mountain bikes are all about since Gary Fisher and company first created them in the 1970’s. Project One is the modern embodiment of that,” said Trek Mountain Bike product manager John Riley. “Project One mountain bikes are something that our customers have asked about for a long time and to be able to offer riders so many options is awesome.”

Trek now has 13 bike models in its Project One program.
