Maison & Objet is widely regarded as Paris Fashion Week for interior design, and attracts attention from around the world, with over 3,500 journalists and more than 80,000 buyers and professionals attending. Every year a leading designer is invited to Paris to create a special theme for the event.
In the Fall of 2013 Ishii and Akari Lisa Ishii were nominated to create and exhibit new lighting designs using leading-edge Japanese technologies and various lighting concepts that make full use of not only hard shapes but also soft design elements utilizing video, light, sound, smell, and taste. One creation that will be on display is an interactive LED chandelier designed by Motoko Ishii that was developed and manufactured by ROHM.
The chandelier will utilize ROHM's proprietary LED control technology to create six different light and sound effects to suit user needs.
