Mexico Was The Country That Contributed Most to The Growth in Consumption of Rolled Steel

Mexico was the country that contributed most to the growth in consumption of rolled steel in Latin America in the first five months of this year, reveal data from the Latin American Steel Association (Alacero).

According to figures from the agency, between January and May 2014 Latin America showed a slight increase in the steel market, increasing 1 percent of its production of crude steel and rolled products, and showing a 2 percent increase in apparent consumption of rolled against the same period in 2013, in which Mexico grew by 12 percent.

The countries with the highest rates of growth in crude steel production were Argentina with 12 percent and Mexico with 7 percent. Brazil was the largest producer with 14 million metric tons, 52 percent of the regional total.
