Global Clean Vehicle Summit 2015 was held recently in Changzhou. With the theme of clean technology, the summit has attracted nearly a hundred domestic and overseas enterprises. Suo Guotao, chief engineer of Advanced Technology R&D Department of Cummins, presented a thorough description that introduces to Cummins latest cutting-edge clean engine technology. Mr Suo particularly introduced future natural gas engine emissions technology route and put forward that the combination of equivalent combustion and cool exhaust gas recirculation (CEGR) and three catalyst is the most promising technology route to meet Euro Six emission regulations.
Compared with other technology route, equivalent combustion bears decided advantages in terms of overall system cost, power density, low speed torque, and transient response. Cummings has introduced zero emission natural gas engine technology in North America with optimized control test rate and adopted the most advantaged three catalyst technology based on the combustion of equivalent combustion, CEGR and three catalyst. Cummins Westport announced in May 6, 2015 that nitrogen oxide emission of its engines has been limited to 0.02g/hp-hr which is 90% lower than the most strict emission regulation in North America.
Leading global natural gas engine clean technology, Cummins domestic-made natural gas engines launched in China. It bears technological advantages that in 2014 Cummins launched 8.9 liter and 6.7 liter engines to reach the National Five emission standards, with a mature Euro Six technology upgrade platform to support future development. At the same time, through research and development, and the localized production and services provided throughout China, Cummings new natural gas products tailored to the needs of Chinese customers, and more efficiently respond to customers' specific requirements.
