An Agreement Has Been Signed by The Confederation of Textile Industries in Galicia

An agreement has been signed by the Confederation of Textile Industries in Galicia (COINTEGA) and the National Chamber of the Apparel Industry of Mexico (CANAIVE) to search for Mexican investors for the Galician apparel sector and also to promote the Galician apparel companies in Mexico.   The agreement signed between the two associations is a part of the ‘American Plan’, supported by the government of Galicia, an autonomous community in northwest Spain, through Instituto Galego de Promoción Económica (Institute for Economic Promotion of Galicia or IGAPE).

Through the agreement, both associations aim to search for Mexican investors to boost up the apparel sector of the Spanish self-governing community of Galicia and also help Galician apparel companies to set up manufacturing units in Mexico.

The COINTEGA and CANAIVE agreement was signed in the presence of José Antonio Conde, president of COINTEGA; Sergio Lopez de la Cerda, president of CANAIVE; Elena Achar, head of the Mexican foreign promotion unit Proméxico; Jose Angel Santamarina, director of the Business Platform of Galicia in Mexico; and Alberto Rocha, general secretary of COINTEGA.

Subsequent to the agreement, a visit by the CANAIVE representatives to Galicia has been planned for October 2013. The visit will focus on the potentials of the Galician textile cluster along with a program, which will present expansion plans of the Galician apparel market to the Mexican investors.
