Corrugated packaging specialist Interstate Container will present Greencoat pre-print packaging at Pack Expo 2015 in Las Vegas, the US.
The 100% recyclable and compostable Greencoat boxes will act as moisture barrier, thereby protecting the packaged products throughout the cold supply chain.
This moisture resistant packaging is pre-printed, then coated and can be used in food packaging.
The FDA-approved Greencoat wax-free coated boxes can be used to replace wax boxes, reusable plastic crates, and expanded polystyrene foam packaging.
Interstate Container Greencoat global director Pete Bugas said: "We've developed one of the most important innovations in packaging in recent memory, with the ultimate goal to eliminate wax boxes entirely from the marketplace.
"The potential for Greencoat wax-free coated applications - outside those commonly used for poultry, fresh produce, and seafood - are numerous. We envision, for example, outdoor displays in garden centers that withstand all weather conditions, among other ideas.
"Being on the cutting edge of new ideas is exciting. We challenge and welcome companies to work Hand-In-Hand with us to improve their packaging - and the planet."
The Greencoat corrugated board can also be developed into several other new water-resistant products for consumer applications, the company said.
Interstate Container will also present Highcon Euclid II+ digital cutting and creasing machine at the event.
The machine is said to offer laser cutting at high speeds to produce quality package in less time while ensuring improved quality.
Interstate Container currently has 12 manufacturing plants and 7 warehouses across the US.
