Japan’s steel product orders booked by the domestic consumers totaled 7.2 million tons in June, falling by 4% from May but rising by 1.2% year on year, according to data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Association (JISF).
In the first half of this year, the country’s domestic steel product orders amounted to 44.9 million tons, down by 0.5% year on year.
In the given period of time, orders for ordinary steel products booked by the domestic construction sectors totaled 6 million tons, rising by 8.5%; those for steel products booked by the country’s automotive sector totaled 6.2 million tons, decreasing by 7.8%, both compared to the figures in the first half of 2012.
