Digital Lumens recently declared that North America's ancient New Orleans Cold Storage has adopted Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System for lighting up its newest facility.

The inauguration of flagship cold storage warehouse took place on 19 July 2012 at a ceremony. New Orleans Cold Storage President, Mark Blanchard, Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal, and also other state and local officials were present at the inaugural ceremony.

The newly-opened 142,000-square-foot facility was designed by Georgia-based Primus Design Services, while McDonnel/Primus Joint Venture team completed the construction process. This new high-tech sustainable facility supports all the export transactions of New Orleans Cold Storage. Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System was selected by the engineering team to illuminate the facility. This newly-installed lighting system consumes 60% less energy than the previously used traditional high-intensity fluorescent (HIF) industrial lighting.

The President and CEO of New Orleans Cold Storage, Mark Blanchard stated that the company took this lighting project as a challenging opportunity to provide superior services. Digital Lumens Intelligent Lighting System enabled reduction in the company's direct lighting energy use. The detailed LightRules reports serve to be a supplementary feature that shows the utilization of lighting energy, enabling the management to minimize the building's energy intensity and also to have better control over the sustainability features.

According to the Vice President of Sales for Primus Builders, Matt Hirsch, following a stringent assessment of several industrial LED lighting alternatives, Primus found Digital Lumens system to be capable of providing excellent energy efficiency, unique performance and increased maintenance conservation.
