General Motors Co. Sold 237,646 Vehicles in The US in April

General Motors Co. said Monday that it sold 237,646 vehicles in the US in April, up 11 percent from a year ago and the best April in five years for the automaker. Retail sales rose 10 percent and fleet sales were up 16 percent. Sales of crossover vehicles rose 14 percent, truck sales were up 17 percent and car sales increased 6 percent.

Chrysler Group LLC reported US sales of 156,698 units, an 11 percent increase compared with sales in April 2012(141,165 units), and the group's best April sales since 2007. April 2013 was also the 37th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.

Ford Motor Company's April 2013 sales were up 18 percent compared to last year, also the company's best April sales since 2007, with cars up 21 percent, utilities up 16 percent and trucks up 16 percent. Retail sales were up 27 percent.
