Metinvest's Crude Steel Output Decreased a Bit in Jan-Sept

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that in its results for the third quarter and the first nine months of the current year that its crude steel production increased by two percent to 3.2 million mt in the third quarter compared to the previous quarter. In the first nine months of the current year, Metinvest produced 9.44 million mt of crude steel, down one percent year on year.

In addition, in the third quarter Metinvest produced 2.5 million mt of finished steel products, up 15 percent quarter on quarter, including 1.6 million mt of flat products and 679,000 mt of long products. In the January-September period, the company's finished steel product output amounted to 6.97 million mt, remaining unchanged compared to the corresponding period of 2012.

In the third quarter, the coking coal production of Metinvest decreased by two percent quarter on quarter to 2.97 million mt, while the company produced 9.07 million mt of iron ore concentrate, falling three percent quarter on quarter. In the first nine months of the year, the company's coking coal production and iron ore concentrate output reached 8.9 million mt and 27.73 million mt, up one percent and two percent respectively, both year on year.
