And it's a good question.As wetrooms are,as Roger notes,'basically a tile floor with a drain',they can feel like a daunting project for DIYers.
"It's not an easy project,"he says,"because effectively,what you need to do is prepare the floor and walls,so water doesn't penetrate through the tiles."
Wetroom packages come with waterproofing layers to put down between tile and floor to ensure your shower doesn't spill out into the floors below,but some homeowners prefer to install a shallow shower tray,just to be sure.
And modern shower enclosures could also help you achieve the feel of a wetroom without the need to waterproof your entire bathroom.
"A lot of manufactures now have shower enclosures where less frame is used.Rather than an aluminium tray all around the door or the panels,there's less frame and therefore,it's effectively just glass,"says the expert.
However,wetrooms have slightly different lighting requirements to the usual bathroom-for that sleek look,flush bathroom light fittings can be installed in the ceiling or wall to save space while providing illumination.
