At the upcoming Interpack trade fair (May 8 to 14, 2014) an integrated solution for manufacturing and packing pharmaceutical solids will make its début at the Romaco Group booth.
Parallel to this, Romaco Kilian will present its new KTP 420X high speed tablet press with the patented in-line CWC scale and a new, likewise patented solution for PAT measuring sensors.
Flexible primary and secondary packaging solutions from Noack, Promatic and Macofar will additionally be exhibited by Romaco. The innovative Romaco technologies can be seen in action in Hall 16, Stand D15.
Strip packaging solutions from Romaco
The united expertise of the Kilian, Siebler and Promatic brands makes it possible: Romaco is the first manufacturer worldwide to offer integrated solutions for manufacturing and packing tablets and effervescents for the pharmaceutical industry. The new Kilian KTP 420X high speed tablet press will be shown at the upcoming Interpack trade fair in line with a Siebler HM 1-230 strip packaging machine.
This combination facilitates a continuous production process with more consistent product quality compared to offline operation. Thanks to the direct line integration, there is no need to store fragile effervescent tablets in a buffer container. At the same time, the products are effectively protected from contaminants in the ambient air. When hooked up to a Promatic cartoner, the system can process as many as 900 strip packs a minute.
The versatile Kilian KTP 420X high speed tablet press is ideal for the production of mono-layer, bi-layer or core tablets (tab-in-tab), and it can also be used to compress poorly flowing materials. High availability, strict hygienic compliance and very simple handling are the hallmarks of the newest machine generation.
The final tablets are fed to the sealing station of the Siebler HM 1-230 in up to sixteen lanes either via a direct connection to the heat-sealing machine or via a buffer bin. The servo-controlled separation of the tablets guarantees high feed rates and precise product positioning in the strip packs.
The HM 1-230 ensures premium sealing quality by adapting the specimen seals to the characteristics of each individual product. The blend of Kilian and Siebler technologies means fewer start-up processes on the tablet press and reduces tablet waste and wearing parts to a minimum.
Kilian KTP 420X high speed tablet press
The free-standing Romaco Kilian KTP 420X high speed tablet press for applications in pharmaceutical manufacturing will be a highlight of the Romaco exhibit at this year's Interpack. The latest series of this successful machine has already won the iF Award 2014 for innovative design and incorporates several unique new features.
The patented CWC (Continuous Weight Control) system, for example, enables tablet weight data to be gathered in-line as the products are pressed. Due to the hermetic separation of the compaction and service areas, no product or oil gets into the machine compartment of the press.
The optimised hygienic design permits quick and easy cleaning. Operating and maintenance staff additionally profit from the reduction in press noise. In response to customer feedback, the machine's Windows 7 based GUI was developed with swipe functionality that makes the new KTP 420X even more user friendly.
Quality data acquisition as the tablets are pressed
The Kilian STYL'ONE single-stroke tablet press is the perfect solution for R&D applications and for producing clinical batches. It can be supplied as a mono-layer or multilayer press and is predestined for applications in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries.
It will be demonstrated by Romaco at Interpack for the first time with a concept study of in-line quality data acquisition, marking another big step towards process analytical technology (PAT). The patented measuring sensor in the pressing tool of the Kilian STYL'ONE allows tablet quality data to be gathered in-line as the products are pressed. The significantly shorter times to market when developing new tablet formulations are a great advantage for users.
The specially designed ANALIS software generates a detailed analysis of the compression process. Tests carried out with very small product quantities deliver extremely precise results. The machine is suitable for all tablet types and compresses up to five layers with five different components.
Romaco blister solution
Performance, uptime and quality - with its balcony structure, the cGMP compliant blister solution in the Romaco Noack 960 series represents an optimal solution for pharmaceutical manufacturers and contract packagers operating on a global scale.
The integrated line impresses with excellent OEE values when packing pharmaceutical solids. Short cleaning times, quick format changes and a high level of automation add up to extraordinarily efficient processes. The blister solution, which is offered with rotary or platen sealing, packs tablets, soft or hard gelatine capsules and caplets in a variety of shapes and sizes.
For the first time, the interchangeable QuickFeed unit enables parallel operating steps instead of sequential. Thanks to the patented technology, product changes are completed in less than thirty minutes. When teamed up with the Romaco Promatic PC 4250 continuous motion cartoner, the Noack 960 Blister System has a packaging capacity of up to 700 blisters and 420 cartons a minute.
Liquid filling solutions made by Romaco
The Romaco Macofar LF 200 FD is a high speed machine for filling pharmaceutical liquids into bottles. It is equipped with two closing stations and is capable of handling a wide range of closure types, guaranteeing maximum flexibility.
When installed in an in-line configuration with the Promatic PC 4200 continuous motion cartoner, it achieves a maximum output of 12,000 bottles an hour with a filling volume of up to 100 millilitres. This compact machine is suitable for glass and plastic containers 16 to 80 millimetres in diameter and 35 to 200 millimetres in height with a filling volume of 0.5 to 500 millilitres.
The Macofar LF 200 FD is the ideal solution for high speed filling of pharmaceutical sprays, nose and ear drops as well as ophthalmics and orally administered syrups. The positive bottle transport system can be adjusted to different container dimensions quickly and easily.
Downtimes for changing the product are therefore reduced to a minimum. All parts of the machine are moreover optimally accessible and simple to clean.
The Romaco technologies will be on show at the Interpack trade fair in Dusseldorf (Germany) from May 8 to 14, 2014 (Hall 16, Stand D15).
