Remy Cointreau Offers to Acquire Domaine Des Hautes Glaces Distillery

Alcoholic beverage firm Remy Cointreau has entered into exclusive talks to acquire French distillery Domaine des Hautes Glaces.

The company submitted an offer for an undisclosed amount, with a view to buy the distillery’s entire share capital.

Since 2009, the distillery produced single malt whiskies in the Trièves Mountains, an area located at 900m altitude within the French Alps.

Production is focused on sustainable development, where each whisky is certified organic, manufactured in a traditional and authentic way from grains including barley, rye, spelt and hull-less oats, and subjected to different alpine climates.

Rémy Cointreau said: “The acquisition of this company represents the opportunity for Rémy Cointreau to incorporate into its portfolio a high-end brand with genuine potential and to increase, over time, the value of an inventory of whiskies of the highest quality by involving the Domaine des Hautes Glaces team in this development.”

The acquisition contract is expected to be signed before the end of this year.

Rémy Cointreau operates in the worldwide wine & spirits market with sales of €1,050.7m for the year ended 31 March 2016. It employs about 1,800 people.
