With a dozen annual conference and exhibition events under its belt, Pharmapack Europe is gearing up for one that has innovation at its epicentre.
Compliance and safety issues are directing much of the innovation seen in packaging. All of this will be discussed and debated by an international panel of industrial, institutional, and academic specialists. The programme includes more than 40 semi-scientific conferences, in four conference sessions dedicated to topics critical to development strategy and innovation within the healthcare community. The presentations are structured to provide a comprehensive overview of changes to regulations, new market trends, and technological progress towards more effective solutions in terms of reducing costs and environmental impact.
The themes are:
Drug Delivery and Drug/Device Combination Products;
Packaging of Liquid and Injectable Forms;
Packaging: Proper Medicinal Drug Use and Patient Safety;
Future Healthcare Packaging: Materials, Sustainability and Collaborative Innovation.
3,200 visitors from 70 countries are expected to attend. 85 per cent of last year’s exhibitors have rebooked, 65 per cent will be international and 63 new companies have joined, enhancing the scope of Pharmapack, especially in polymers, injection-moulding for injectable delivery systems and medical devices, labelling systems, and serialization. The event has a new home, Paris Expo at the Porte de Versailles, and takes place across February 12 and 13.
There is an all day technical symposium on February 12 and The Responsible Innovation round table on February 13.
The 2014 conference programme will therefore provide an opportunity for patient associations, as well as medication manufacturers, packaging specialists, and healthcare professionals (hospital pharmacists, doctors, etc.), to express their needs regarding the new packaging and delivery solutions put forward.
The inaugural Innovation Gallery will enable decision makers from laboratories and the medical industry (including managers in R&D, purchasing, procurement, production, and business development) to gain a comprehensive and instant overview of the new solutions available on the market.
Pharmapack has been emphasising its focus on delivery systems in the lead up, in particular for injectable treatments, which account for around 80 per cent of the healthcare products currently in development. These systems - an essential part of a medication and its packaging - represent a market that is growing strongly and driving innovation forward,” stated Aurore Domange, event manager of Pharmapack Europe.
"Pharmapack Europe is a showcase for technology and an incubator for innovations in packaging and drug delivery for healthcare products. The event brings together key healthcare stakeholders and offers the opportunity to consider the trends and innovations of the future, taking into account the difficulties faced by carers, patients, medication manufacturers and providers of solutions, from the design phase through to finished products", Domange added.
