3m Offers Its 3m Molecular Detection Assay Listeria for The Testing of Food Matrices

US-based 3M Food Safety has announced that it has received AOAC-PTM Certification for the 3M Molecular Detection Assay Listeria for Environmental Testing from the AOAC Research Institute's Performance Tested Methods Program.

The 3M Molecular Detection System uses two technologies-isothermal DNA amplification and bioluminescence detection.

The company noted that the system's development was based on customers'need for a pathogen detection solution that is faster, simpler and delivers more accurate results.

3M also offers its 3M Molecular Detection Assay Listeria for the testing of food matrices including produce, meat, seafood, poultry and dairy.

3M Food Safety global marketing manager Niki Montgomery said that the recent outbreaks and recalls due to possible Listeria contamination further underscore the importance of using an AOAC-PTM certified method to detect foodborne pathogens.

The AOAC Research Institute offers certification of methods based on independent study results demonstrating that a given method meets its product performance claims as expressed in the product package insert

AOAC RI,based in Gaithersburg,Maryland,is a subsidiary of AOAC International,an independent,not-for-profit association which provides the tools and processes necessary to develop voluntary consensus standards or technical standards.

3M Food Safety offers solutions to the food and beverage industries to help optimize the quality and safety of their products to enable consumer protection.
