BSD Medical, a provider of ablation equipments, has received approval in Russian Federation to market its BSD-2000 Hyperthermia system configurations and BSD-500 Hyperthermia system.
To expand the commercialization, BSD has partnered with MSM-Medimpex for distribution of hyperthermia systems.
In addition, Medimpex distributes radiation therapy devices from Electa, which dominates the oncology market in Russia.
BSD Medical president Harold Wolcott said even though hyperthermia has been utilized in Russia for many years, there is a lack of commercially available sophisticated systems.
"Cancer treatments in Russia are usually delivered in large, centralized, sophisticated, cancer treatment centers," Wolcott added.
"The Company believes that Russia represents a significant marketing opportunity for the Company's hyperthermia products."
