In January this year, production and sales of automotive vehicles in China amounted to 2.0517 million units and 2.1564 million units, up by 4.4 percent and six percent year on year respectively, while on month-on-month basis production of automotive vehicles decreased by four percent and sales increased by one percent, as stated by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
In particular, the output and sales volumes of passenger vehicles in China in January this year totaled 1.7106 million units and 1.8469 million units, increasing by 5.5 percent and seven percent year on year respectively, while compared with December output was down four percent and sales were up 3.9 percent. As for commercial vehicles, domestic output and sales in January this year amounted to 341,100 units and 309,500 units, down 0.6 percent and up 0.2 percent year on year, while decreasing by 4.1 percent and 13.4 percent on month-on-month basis, respectively.
Meanwhile, also in the given month, China's auto export volume amounted to 68,500 units, down 17 percent month on month and decreasing by seven percent year on year, including 45,600 passenger vehicles and 22,900 commercial vehicles, down two percent and 36.3 percent, both on month-on-month basis.
In 2013, China's auto import volume had amounted to 1.1954 million units, up 5.6 percent year on year, while the country's auto export volume had totaled 948,100 units, down 6.6 percent year on year.
