Taiwan’s Automotive Research&Testing Center(ARTC)has signed an MoU with France based Union Technique de l’Automobile du Motocycle et du Cycle(UTAC)for the development of technology for electric vehicles(EV).
The agreement also calls for future cooperation in establishing production standards and testing technology for EVs and for mutual certification of EVs from both the countries.
Both the countries have prioritised the development of EVs in their future industrial cooperation.
In the interim,French company Venturi has signed a letter of intent to buy electric buses from Taiwan-based Advanced Lithium Electrochemistry in a deal expected to cost about TW$11.8bn($399.97m)over five years.
ARTC provides services for the domestic car industry which include research and development,testing and certification.
UTAC has an official authorisation for vehicle approval,safety testing and vehicle inspection.
