HTC Nexus 'Sailfish' Specs Leak - a Worthy Nexus 5X Successor?

Tags: HTC, Nexus phones

We may have just learned the specs of the next official Nexus smartphone.

It's been rumoured that HTC is working on two new Nexus phones, codenamed Marlin and Sailfish, for launch later this year.

Earlier in the week we reported on claims that these phones would be based on the HTC 10, and would be powered by a souped-up Snapdragon 821 CPU.

Now Android Police has provided a full tech rundown for the smaller Sailfish model, apparently based on high-quality evidence from its anonymous sources.

While the report makes no claim to know the precise nature of the CPU, it will apparently be a quad-core 2.0GHz 64-bit processor, backed by 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It's not known if there'll be any other storage options at this point.

The Sailfish will apparently come packing a 5-inch 1080p display, and will have a 12-megapixel camera on the rear and an 8-megapixel one on the front.

Like the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P before it, there'll be a fingerprint sensor on the back and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. The latter will apparently sit alongside a speaker or speakers - it's unknown if there'll be a dual setup.

It seems the device will be powered along by a 2770mAh battery, and the spec leak is rounded out by Bluetooth 4.2 support and a top-mounted 3.5mm headphone jack.

Naturally, such rumours need to be taken as just that - rumours. But these specs certainly appear to be a convincing take on what an upper-mid-range late-2016 Android phone might look like.
