HIGH POINT -- Leather upholstery resource Simon Li said it is adding about 323,000 square feet of factory and warehouse space to its production facility in Jiashan, China.
The expansion, scheduled for completion in September 2013, will boost the facility's total footprint to about 840,000 square feet. Production capacity will be about 1,000 containers per month, the company said.
The Jiashan facility, which opened in 2006, is one of two Simon Li production facilities in China. A factory in Shanghai opened in 1999, two years after the company's founding.
"Since the initial factory in Shanghai opened, Simon Li Furniture set a prudent and steady growth strategy to gain market share in the European and U.S. markets," said Simon Lichtenberg, CEO. "Due to increased demand, the decision was made to implement phase two expansion of the Jiashan facility."
In the U.S. market, the company sells stationary upholstery at retail price points of $799 to $1,999, and motion upholstery that retail for about $1,399 to $1,799.
Simon Li, a division of Trayton Furniture, has a market showroom in Plaza Suites, space 220.
