MBC Has Added Single-Incision Laproscopic Surgery (Sils) Service Offerings

Mexico Bariatric Center (MBC), a healthcare facilitator which helps patients undergo metabolic and bariatric surgeries, has added Single-Incision Laproscopic Surgery (SILS) to its service offerings.

By making a single incision, known as trans-umbilical gastric sleeve, SILS permanently reduces the size of the stomach by 85% and induces the feeling of fullness.

In addition, the surgery reduces the production of Ghrelin, which is responsible for the feelings of appetite and hunger.

In traditional laparoscopic procedure, surgeons make about five or more incisions for trocars, which are tubes or conduits that allow passage of medical devices and access to abdominal cavity, and leave five or six visible scars about an inch long, while open surgery makes a long incision that will leave a large visible scar.

Single-Incision gastric sleeve weight loss surgery makes single-incision, which is less-visible scarring and patients will recover faster, according to MBC.

Studies have also shown that compared to laparoscopic surgery, open surgery patients will have more complications, longer recovery times, and will lead to higher re-surgery rates.
