Healthcare products company Covidien has launched a new cuffless product to enhance patient care and safety within the hospital and home care environments.
The product, which forms part of the company's Shiley neonatal and pediatric tracheostomy tubes family of products, features an expanded range of tube sizes down to a 2.5mm inner diameter to accommodate the smallest patients.mily of products,
A soft, clear flange is also embedded in the device that facilitates easier examination of the underlying skin for infection and eases trach-tube holder insertion.
Tubes are manufactured with a medical grade PVC, with a citric-based, non-phthalate plasticizer, claims the company.
Covidien respiratory and monitoring solutions president Robert White said, "This new product portfolio represents an important step forward in the care of young patients dependent on tracheostomy tubes."
The Shiley neonatal and pediatric tracheostomy tubes are available for sale in the US, Canada and Europe.
