Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel Project Enters Full Construction Phase

At 11:00 pm. May 17, with the piling and construction opening of No. 1 blast furnace, Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel project enters full construction phase. In this day, Zhanjiang Steel six main projects auxiliary facilities: iron, steel, hot-rolling, cold-rolling, energy, logistics start construction at the same time.

Baosteel Zhanjiang Steel Party and administrative leaders, Zhanjiang Steel project design, construction and supervision units SBC-MCC, CISDI, Baosteel Engineering and Zhanjiang Steel department heads and staff representatives attend the opening ceremony.

Since construction opening last year, to complete Zhanjiang Steel project's construction and do it well, Baosteel makes concerted efforts, re-examines and re-studies project product technology, management model and control investment. Combining with Shanghai Baoshan district iron and steel industrial restructuring, it successfully optimizes the construction program and clarifies that as investment entity, Baosteel Co.,Ltd. is responsible for Zhanjiang steel base construction and operation management. It explores and implements "one factory in charge of one factory" management and control model, further defines project objectives and organizational system and lays foundation for Zhanjiang Steel.

Zhanjiang Steel blast furnace project consists two 5,050 cubic meter blast furnaces and more than 10 ancillary facilities. It can produce 8,230,000 tons of molten iron, 2,711,000 tons of water slag, 11.9 billion cubic meters of blast furnace gas annually. The project is undertaken by SBC-MCC. The construction includes the No. 1 blast furnace body and its 14 ancillary facilities. The project plans to put into production by the end of 2015. No. 2 blast furnace will start operation in June 2014 and will be completed in 2016. In addition to No. 1 blast furnance, cable tunnel, power pipe network, whole plant water supply drainage network, power plant integrated pipeline, whole plant scrap yard and finished product warehouse projects are also included in the construction opening. It is known that Zhanjiang Steel steel, hot-rolling, cold-rolling main project will start construction from July to September this year.

Zhanjiang Steel blast furnace will take in Baosteel's experience in blast furnace construction accumulated over the years, fully implement self-integration and innovation and achieve localization as far as possible. The two blast furnaces have large-scale equipment, efficiency and automated features. The process and equipment selection focus on environmental protection. The overall technology and equipment level is higher than the current domestic blast furnace level. After putting into production, Zhanjiang Steel blast furnace will fulfill clean production and resource conservation requirements and achieve environmental targets such as low energy consumption, low material consumption, zero waste and high recycling rate.

In the opening ceremony, design, construction and supervision units say they will cooperate with each other fully and closely, ensure furnace project construction's continuing, orderly and efficient advancement. They will set example for Zhanjiang Steel project's full construction and strive to create furnace blast "Double Excellence" project.

Zhanjiang Steel says that they will go all out to guarantee blast furnace construction, coordinate and serve design, construction and supervision units and ensure blast furnace project's completion with quality and quantity and on time. They will build the blast furnace into a world-class engineering project which has high-quality, high efficiency, long life, environmental protection, energy saving, low cost, independent innovation and integration technologies, sustainable development and the highest competitiveness in the world.
