Amerigen Pharmaceuticals, a group of companies engaged in all phases of the generic pharmaceutical business, has collaborated with Forest Laboratories to develop a number of specialty generic products.
The collaboration will leverage Amerigen's formulation expertise to develop a range of complex generic products and will commercialize resulting products in the US.
Further, Forest will make undisclosed milestone payments to Amerigen, receive royalties on US sales of products resulting from collaboration with an option to take over rights to register and commercialize few products in Latin America.
Amerigen president and CEO John Lowry said the collaboration is a testament to its generic formulation and product development capabilities and enables the company to continue its efforts to build a portfolio of differentiated, high value generic pharmaceuticals.
"It also enables Amerigen to leverage its product development investments into an array of fast growing emerging markets, with the support of a leading international pharmaceutical company," Lowry added.
