Vetter has installed new clinical syringe line at its Skokie facility in the US, as part of its efforts to expand operations to meet increasing customer demand.
The new line has been already used to manufacture multiple batches for use in early clinical trials.
Located at the Illinois Science + Technology Park in suburban Chicago, the new facility has been added with six new chest freezers, two upright freezers and two refrigerator units.
The new syringe line, along with the freezer and refrigerator units, enables to manage the syringe projects through supporting early clinical stages and overall larger batch sizes.
Vetter launched an aseptic syringe filling line, in addition to multiple batches, including aseptic liquid and lyophilized products, filled for customers in vials.
Vetter Development Services USA president Dr Susanne Resatz said: "Year to date, a double digit number of clinical batches have been manufactured for customers and we anticipate a significant increase in the number of batches in the coming years.
“Given our experience at this facility with filling and lyophilization, many of our customers are returning for development work for a second, third, or even fourth molecule.”
Skokie facility provides development support for preclinical through phase II injectables, primarily complex biologics.
The facility offers early-stage clinical manufacturing services, including chemical analysis and microbiology labs, material preparation and compounding functions.
It has partnered with pharmaceutical companies from various continents, including the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Based in Ravensburg, Vetter is an contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that provides prefilled syringe systems, cartridges and vials for serving small, midsize, and top (bio) pharmaceutical companies.
