Taiwan-based PV conductive paste maker Giga Solar Materials, due to booming demand for PV silver paste, has seen output short of total order volumes by 30% currently, according to company chairman Chen Chi-jen.
Giga Solar shipped 40 tonnes of front-side PV silver paste and 35 tonnes of back-side PV silver paste in the first quarter of 2014 and aims to ship 200 tonnes and 150 tonnes respectively in 2014.
Giga Solar posted consolidated revenues of NT$746 million (US$24.7 million) for May, the second-highest monthly level with growth of 5.18% on month and 89.01% on year, and NT$3.446 billion for January-May, hiking 86.96% on year. In view of increasing shipments, Giga Solar expects its consolidated revenues for June to hit a monthly record.
In related news, Taiwan-based solar-grade crystalline silicon wafer maker Gigastorage, Giga Solar's parent company, hit record consolidated revenues of NT$1.279 billion for May and saw January-May consolidated revenues of NT$5.601 billion up 60.71% on year.
