Korea's Imports of Hot Rolled Coils Totaled 2.21 Million Tons Decreasing by 17% in H1

According to data released by the Korea Iron and Steel Association (Kosa), Korea’s imports of hot rolled coils (HRC) totaled 2.21 million tons in the first half of this year, decreasing by 17% year on year.

In the given period of time, Japan was the largest importer of Korean HRC with 397,000 tons, falling by 14%; Vietnam was the second largest one with 395,000 tons, decreasing by 14%, both compared to those in the same period of 2012.

In January-June, Korea’s HRC imports totaled 2.43 million tons, decreasing by 10% year on year.

Among them, 1.42 million tons were imported from Japan, up by 2% and 819,000 tons were from China, decreasing by 23%, both compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.
