The Index Said Rates Went Down 2.6% in June, Compared to May Results

Ground transportation rates continue to decline, according to the Canadian General Freight Index.

The index said rates went down 2.6% in June, compared to May results.

The base rate index - excluding accessorial charges - went down 1.6% compared to May, the index reported.

Meanwhile, average fuel surcharges assessed by carriers went down from 20.26% in May to 19.26% of the base rate.

"Cross Border Truckload was the main driver of the freight cost decline," said Doug Payne, president and COO, Nulogx. "Fuel as a percentage of freight costs have dropped to the same level as a year ago."
