Petrobras announces that oil production (oil plus natural gas liquids – NGL) from all of Petrobras' fields in Brazil averaged 1,960 thousand barrels per day (bpd) in October, remaining practically stable when compared to September (1,979 thousand bpd). Including the volume operated by Petrobras for its partners, production reached 2,019 thousand bpd, down 1.2% from September (2,044 thousand bpd).
This production variation was due to the temporary stoppage of two compressors, one in FPSO Cidade de Angra dos Reis, in Lula field, and the other on FPSO Cidade de Itajaí, in Baúna field, both located in Santos basin. Operations on both FPSOs have already been normalized.
Scheduled maintenance stoppages for platforms PMLZ-1 in Merluza and PGP-1 in Garoupa have been initiated. These losses were partly offset by the going on stream of new wells on FPSO- Dynamic Producer in Lula Field and platform P-52 in Roncador Field, in addition to the return of operations of platforms P-26 and P-35, in Campos Basin, following a planned maintenance shutdown.
Papa-Terra Field went on stream on November 11th, with the start-up of platform P-63. The tender assist drilling rig (TAD), which will drill wells associated with platform P-61, also in Papa-Terra Field, left the shipyard in China and is en route to Brazil.
Operations to complete mooring interconnect the first well and oil pipeline, besides final platform commissioning activities are currently underway on platform P-55, in Roncador field.
Accumulated pre-salt production
The accumulated volume of oil and gas extracted from the pre-salt, since production began in 2008, reached 250 million barrels of oil equivalent in October. This volume exceeds the entire accumulated production of Garoupa field, Petrobras' first discovery in Campos Basin, in 1974, which is still producing today. Some 330 thousand barrels of oil equivalent are produced daily in the pre-salt.
Natural gas production
In October, natural gas production from Petrobras' fields in Brazil was 56,600 thousand cubic meters per day. Including the share operated by Petrobras for its partners, this volume reached 63,400 thousand cubic meters per day. This result, which corresponds to an 8.4% decrease when compared to September's gas production, was caused by the scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Mexilh?o platform, anchored in Santos Basin, during the entire month of October. Operation in this platform has been normalized in November.
Total Production in Brazil
Petrobras' total production in Brazil (oil and natural gas) was 2,315 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed), down 2.2% from the 2,368 thousand boed produced in the previous month, mainly due to the scheduled maintenance shutdown of Mexilh?o, as mentioned before. Including the share operated by Petrobras for its partners, total production in October was 2,418 thousand boed, down 2.4% from September.
Production abroad
In October, total oil and natural gas extraction abroad was 199,760 boed, down 4.7% from the previous month's production of 209,506 boed, and was due to an adjustment in the oil production calculation of Akpo field, in Nigeria, and the farm-out of Coulomb field, in the United States.
Of this total, and for the same reasons, natural gas production reached 15,439 thousand cubic meters per day, down 1.7% from September, while oil production reached 108,888 bpd, down 7% when compared to the previous month.
Information to the ANP
The total production reported to Brazil's National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP) was 9,395,483.25 m3 of oil and 2,076,266,670 m3 of gas in October of 2013. This production corresponds to the total production of the concessions where Petrobras is the operator. It does not include volumes of oil extracted from shale, natural gas liquids and partners' production where Petrobras is not the operator.
