Coal Exports From PWCS, with The Overall Volume up 8.25 Percent Year on Year.

Coal exports from the Port Waratah Coal Services (PWCS) terminals based at Port of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, totaled 9.86 million mt in December, rising by 26.2 percent compared to November, according to the company's announcement. 14 percent of the total coal handled at the terminals was coking coal.

In the whole of 2012, coking coal exports constituted 14 percent of total coal exports of 105.9 million mt from PWCS, with the overall volume up 8.25 percent year on year.

According to the released information, Japan was the largest export destination for coal shipments from PWCS in 2012, accounting for 52.6 percent of total shipments, while coal exports to China made up 19 percent of the total.
