In January this year, Japan's galvanized sheet output increased by 0.77 percent compared to December and was up 3.98 percent year on year, amounting to 1.03 million mt, according to data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF).
In January of the current year, Japan's galvanized sheet shipments amounted to 1.01 million mt, increasing by 4.65 percent compared to December and up 6.38 percent from the same month in 2013, while 72 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market and the remaining 28 percent were made to the export markets.
Meanwhile, in January Japan's galvanized sheet inventories rose 2.11 percent month on month to 1.04 million metric tons, and remained unchanged year on year. 66 percent of inventories were held by steel manufacturers, while 34 percent were held by steel traders.
