Widmer Brothers Brewing has introduced a new filtered American-style wheat beer - Krystal Pear - as part of the Feast Portland event that will take place from 19-22 September 2013.
Krystal Pear is brewed, fermented and bottled entirely on-site at the pilot brewery with pears sourced from USA Pears.
It offers moderately fruity aromas, reminiscent of a cider with notes of pear. The delicate pear flavors and moderate body offer a crisp, semi-dry finish with sweetness.
Rose Quarter brewer Ben Dobler said that after the great response they received about Krystal Pear during Feast Portland last year, they wanted to share the beer with more people this year.
"Bottling small batch beer, which isn't something we typically do, is a great way to get the beer to more people around town," Dobler added.
Packed in 22oz bottles, this new beer will be available around Portland at bottleshops, grocery stores and on draught at local restaurants and beer bars.
Feast Portland co-founder Mike Thelin said that Feast Portland is a celebration of Oregon's amazing culinary culture and bounty, and Krystal Pear is a fitting addition to the festival.
"The beer was brewed and bottled in small batches specifically for Feast and the Portland market, using pears from orchards in eastern Oregon. Plus Widmer Brothers is one of the original Portland craft breweries, and we are excited to have them back as a sponsor," Thelin added.
