William Beaumont Hospital, a three-hospital regional health system, has purchased BSD Medical's MicroThermX Microwave Ablation system.
The MicroThermX system, which features a microwave generator, single-patient-use disposable antennas, and a thermistor-based temperature monitoring system, utilizes synchronous phased array technology to provide a wide range of uniform zones of ablation.
William Beaumont is involved in providing health care services including cancer treatment, medical education and medical research.
BSD Medical sales and marketing vice president Sam Maravich said William Beaumont is a referral center for patients throughout Michigan, US.
"We are excited to have state-of-the-art ablation treatment with the MicroThermX available in this high-profile, prestigious interventional oncology center," Maravich added.
The company said its MicroThermX system has received the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) 510(k) approval for ablation of soft tissue as well as CE mark.
