On August 30, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, announced that in July this year the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the European Union member states (EU-28) was 11 percent, stable compared to June figure.
Compared with a year ago, the unemployment rate increased in seventeen member states and fell in eleven.
Among the EU-28 member states, in July the lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Austria (4.8%), Germany (5.3%) and Luxembourg (5.7%), and the highest in Greece (27.6% in May 2013) and in Spain (26.3%).
Meanwhile, in July this year the unemployment rate in the United States was 7.4 percent, down from 7.6 percent in previous month and down from 8.3 percent in July 2012.
