On October 9, major Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group announced that its Hebei-based subsidiary Wuyang Iron and Steel Co. (Wuyang Steel) recently delivered 1,215 mt of 80 mm thick Q354GJB-Z25 steel plate to Shanghai for use in the construction of the Shanghai Tower, bringing the total volume of steel supplied by Wuyang Steel for the skyscraper project to over 20,000 mt.
The Shanghai Tower, located in Lujiazui, Pudong, Shanghai, will be the tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world. Ground was broken for construction in November 2008, with completion due in late 2014. The building will stand around 632 meters high and will have 121 stories.
