Liquid packaging firm Sidel has unveiled new half-liter PET bottle for its packaged still water, the RightWeight, offering reduced weight.
The new lightweight bottle design is claimed to offer the product quality and better consumer experience as well as protection for beverages and consumer satisfaction.
RightWeight bottle is said to weigh about 7.95g, while providing top-load performance of 33kg using standard resistance of 26/22 caps without nitrogen dosing.
The bottle offers increased resistance, which decreases the 'over squeeze' concern faced with ultra-light bottles and is capable of traveling across the supply chain, while maintaining its original appearance.
Sidel Packaging Care & Development head Christophe Bunel said beverage producers are striving to unlock the value of a PET bottle from concept to consumer across their entire supply chain.
"Our new RightWeight bottle concept is designed to reduce bottle weight, and also save energy during production, improve bottle performance across the supply chain, without compromising on product quality, and result in a far better consumer experience for such a light bottle," Bunel said.
"Typically the goal is to reach 30kg or more top-load performance to ensure a bottle can withstand the rigours of the supply chain."
According to the company, the bottle is suitable for usage in its PET packaging solutions and output speeds for still water including the new Sidel Matrix system. It can also be adapted easily to existing production lines that use standard cap formats.
