Production of All Trucks Maintains Growth Over The Same Period of Last Year

Statistics from CAAM show that in July, among all trucks, both production and sales decline in different degrees over last year but production of all trucks maintains growth over the same period of last year, especially semi-tractor market. Generally speaking, the truck market proceeds with the moderate recovery.

In July, production and sales of complete vehicles are 193,800 units and 188,500 units respectively, down by 2.17% and 14.34% over last month by up by 15.68% and 7.51% year on year. Production and sales of non-complete vehicles are 33,000 units and 34,900 units respectively, down by 18.75% and 34.11% over last year but up by 9.84% and 16.09% year on year. Production and sales of semi-tractors are 14,500 units and 15,100 units respectively, down by 30.80% and 38.61% over last month but up by 35.38% and 37.56%. 

HD trucks: obvious increase 

In July, production of HD trucks (including non-complete vehicles and semi-tractors) totals 47,500 units up by 29.89% year on year, and the sales reach 48,900 units, up by 25.70% year on year. Production and sales of complete HD trucks are 13,800 units and 13,500 units respectively, up by 40.01% and 13.35% year on year; production and sales of non-complete vehicles are 19,200 units and 20,300 units respectively, up by 19.95% and 26.45% year on year; and production and sales of semi-tractors are 14,500 units and 15,100 units respectively, up by 35.38% and 37.56% year on year.

Seen from segment market, in July, sales of complete HD truck with 26t < gross mass ≤ 32t rise by 23.88% to 5852 units over the same period of last year; that of complete HD truck with 19t < gross mass ≤ 26t rises by 4.44% to 5908 units over the same period of last year; that of complete HD truck with 17t < gross mass ≤ 19t rises by 2.98% to 1348 units over the same period of last year.

Seen from the sales ranks of HD truck manufacturers (including non-complete vehicles and semi-tractors), top three are Dongfeng, FAW Jiefang and SINOTRUK with sales increasing by 9.10%, 8.34% and -0.92%, reaching 95,900 units, 73,000 units and 72,000 units respectively. No. 4 to No.6 are Foton (65,400 units), SHACMAN (59,500 units) and JAC (20,000 units).

MD trucks: descend over last month but ascend over last year

In July, production of MD trucks (including non-complete vehicles and semi-tractors) reaches 21,200 units, down by 9.86% over last month but up by 17.11% over last year; the sales reach 21,700 units, down by 17.35% over last month but up by 22.64% over last year. Production and sales of complete vehicles are 14,200 units and 15,000 units, up by 35.56% and 40.14% year on year; production and sales of non-complete vehicles are 7054 units and 6754 units, down by 8.06% and 3.97% year on year.

Seen from the segment market, sales of complete MD trucks with 8t<gross mass≤10t total 2523 units up by 8.19% year on year; sales of complete MD trucks with 6t<gross mass≤8t amount 6167 units up by 38.52% year on year.

Seen from the manufacturer ranking, top three are Dongfeng, FAW and SINOTRUK with sales volumes being 51,400 units, 28,300 units and 20,800 units, up by 9.47%, 13.52% and 61.46% respectively year on year. No. 4 to No.6 are Chongqing Lifan (15,000 units), Jinbei (11,100 units) and Qingling (10,600 units).

LD trucks: rise in both production and sales

In July, production and sales of LD trucks (including non-complete vehicles and semi-tractors) are 138,300 units and 133,700 units, up by 17.41% and 10.64% year on year. The production and sales of complete vehicles are 131,600 units and 125,900 units, up by 20.10% and 10.00% year on year; those of non-complete vehicles are 6735 units and 7819 units, down by 8.06% and up by 13.45% respectively over last year. In July, sales of light trucks with gross mass not more than 3.5t but more than 1.8t are 71,900 units, up by 11.40% year on year.

Seen from manufacturer ranking of sales in Jan. to July, top three enterprises are Foton, JAC and Dongfeng, with sales volumes being 228,600 units, 137,600 units and 108,400 units respectively. No.4 to No.6 are Jinbei (97,500 units), JAC (83,000 units) and Great Wall (78,100 units).

Micro trucks: the worst performance

In July, production and sales of micro trucks (including non-complete vehicles and semi-tractors) are 34,300 units and 34,300 units, down by 9.22% and 12.10% year on year. Production and sales of complete micro trucks are 34,300 units and 34,200 units, down by 9.05% and 11.95% year on year; those of non-complete vehicles are 38 units and 90 units, down by 65.45% and 47.67% year on year.

Seen from manufacturers' accumulative sales ranking from Jan. to July, top three manufacturers are Vallin, Foton and Dongfeng with sales volumes reaching 101,000 units, 64,500 units and 53,100 units respectively, increasing by 40.36%, 1.12% and -23.68% year on year. No.4 to No.6 are Chongqing Changan (49,300 units), KAMA (11,100 units) and Chery (9132 units).
