Sutton Coldfield residents recently attended an afternoon tea event at Cookes Furniture to raise more than £1300 for a local cancer charity, which also marked its 20th anniversary at the event.
The Midlands store invited the local community to join them in-store at Edward’s Restaurant on Thursday 8th September to raise money for Breast Friends, a cancer support charity in Sutton Coldfield.
Tickets for the event were £12.50 and sold out within days of going on sale. In addition to the champagne afternoon tea, customers enjoyed live music entertainment with all proceeds going to the charity.
Breast Friends is a support group based at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, celebrated its 20th anniversary at the event. The charity is run by volunteers who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer and aims to help local women with cancer through a difficult time by offering friendship, support, emotional and practical help.
Vanessa Hoe, marketing director at Cookes Furniture, says: “Over the years we have always enjoyed supporting local charities like Breast Friends. We were delighted to help them mark their 20th anniversary celebrations which made the fundraising event even more special. Tickets for the afternoon tea completely sold out and we were so delighted by the fantastic turnout. We never expected to raise £1,300 so that was simply the cherry on top of a brilliant morning with Breast Friends."
