Turkey Regains Eighth Place in October in Crude Steel Output to 3.08 Million Mt

According to a statement released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkey, which fell to the ninth place among the world's leading crude steel producing countries in September this year, regained eighth place in October with a 6.9 percent year-on-year increase in crude steel output to 3.08 million mt, constituting Turkey's highest monthly output volume so far in the current year. In October, Germany preceded Turkey in seventh place with crude steel production totaling 3.76 million mt, while Brazil was in ninth place with 3.02 million mt.

In the January-October period this year, Turkey's crude steel output declined by 3.8 percent year on year to 28.90 million mt, following a five percent year-on-year decline recorded in January-September. Turkey thus ranked eighth among the world's leading crude steel producing countries in January-October, coming after Germany in seventh place with 35.51 million mt and preceding Brazil which produced 28.87 million mt of crude steel.
