Sealed Air’s Ethafoam maximum recycled content (MRC) and Ethafoam (high recycled content) HRC polyethylene foams that are produced in the Grand Prairie, Texas facility in the US have received Recycled Material Content certification from Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), an independent environmental claims verification organization.
SCS' certification for Ethafoam MRC containing 95% recycled content by total weight and Ethafoam HRC containing a minimum of 65% recycled resin content, provides third-party verification of Sealed Air's recycled content assertions pertaining to the two specialty polyethylene foams, which were launched recently.
Manufacturers should meet and maintain strict guidelines detailed in SCS' program standards manual, to achieve SCS certification for recycled content. They should also supply process data, as well as host mandatory on-site visits for SCS personnel to review and verify all pertinent processes, for each product under consideration.
The factors include documentation of source traceability as well as clear processes for segregation of conforming/non-conforming materials.
Sealed Air has developed Ethafoam MRC and Ethafoam HRC in response to growing demand for packaging alternatives that enhance overall sustainability.
