Two Peugeot RCZ sports cars will mark the French car maker's return to Mount Panorama at next year's Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race.
Making its first factory-backed return to the iconic mountain circuit since 1992,the two Peugeot Sport Peugeot RCZ race cars,will be the only factory-based competitors to take part in the 2013 event.
Three French drivers,Stephane Caillet,Bruce Jouanny and Julien Rueflin,will drive one car,while a group of local drivers yet to be announced will share the second car.
Developed over the past two years,the two Bathurst cars are powered by a tuned version of the Peugeot RCZ's 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 190kW of power and 290Nm of torque.Modifications to the suspension,aerodynamics and fuel tanks join other race-focused changes to reduce the car's weight by 120kg.
The new Peugeot RCZ race cars will compete in a new Invitational Class for cars up to 1600cc when the 2013 Bathurst 12 Hour kicks off on February 8-10.
