Toyota HiLux Have Been Upgraded with New Safety, Technology and Convenience Features

Toyota Hilux: Safety, Tech Upgrades for Single-and Extra-Cab Utes

Single- and extra-cab versions of the Toyota HiLux have been upgraded with new safety, technology and convenience features, accompanied by price rises of up to $1250.

In response to low demand for petrol-powered HiLux models, Toyota Australia has rationalised its line-up to 11 variants across the two body styles, now offering four 4×2 single-cabs, two 4×2 extra cabs, two 4×4 single-cabs and three 4×4 extra-cabs.

The update incorporates the safety enhancements announced in September, with all Toyota HiLux 4×4 single- and extra-cab variants now rated five stars by ANCAP thanks to their standard fitment of electronic stability control, traction control, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, and a front passenger seatbelt reminder.

Diesel-powered HiLux models are now equipped with a new five-speed automatic transmission.

All HiLux single- and extra-cabs now feature new audio systems with a 6.1-inch display screen, AUX/USB inputs, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and audio controls on the steering wheel. For high-grade HiLux SR and SR5 variants, the steering wheel controls also operate the instrument cluster’s multi-information display, phone and voice recognition systems.

The range-topping SR5 gains a reversing camera and upgraded satellite navigation with SUNA live traffic information.

The 4×4 HiLux SR5 extra-cab upgrades from 15- to 17-inch alloy wheels, while 4×4 SR variants are now fitted with 225/70-profile 17-inch all-terrain tyres.

Single-cab models feature a grey and black interior while extra-cabs are entirely black.

The updated Toyota HiLux single- and extra-cabs are on sale now. Double-cab models, to be revised from November production, are set to go on sale in mid January, with details to be released at that time.
