Worldwide Computer Monitor Shipments Increased for The Third Quarter

Worldwide computer monitor shipments increased for the third quarter, despite the market being depressed year over year, according to IDC.

IDC reported that monitor shipments were up 4.5 percent, with 35 million shipped worldwide. This growth was 1.2 million units more than was forecast.

IDC is expecting this trend to continue in the fourth quarter, with a prediction of another 3.2 percent drop compared with the third quarter. Even with this downtick, IDC said overall shipments for 2013 will inch up to 136.3 million units from the 134.7 million shipped in 2012; however, this will still equate to an 8.5 percent drop for the year.

Dell was the monitor shipping champion for the quarter, followed by Samsung, Hewlett-Packard, LG and AOC.
