CFIA Has Issued a Health Hazard Alert, CThe Product Affected by Crimini Mushrooms Recall

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a health hazard alert, CThe product affected by the recall is Champ's Mushrooms brand Sliced Crimini Mushrooms, Product of Canada. It is sold in 227 g (8 oz.) packages, bearing the UPC 6 78286 88877 5 and the 'packed on' date written as, PO 10AUG2012.

This product has been distributed in British Columbia. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

The manufacturer, Champ's Mushrooms, based in Aldergrove, British Columbia, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace, while the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness, which can lead to high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk of this illness.
