Canada-based XL Foods has voluntarily recalled 260 additional beef products due to potential E.coli contamination risk,according to Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
The affected products linked with the latest recall bear manufacturing dates of 24,27,28,29 August and 5 September as the previously recalled hundreds of beef products in mid-September.
The latest recalled 260 varieties of beef products have been sold by Entrepot de Viandes stores in Quebec;Brooks Meat Packers in Alberta;The Kitchen Table,Zehrs,Your Independent Grocer and Valu-Mart outlets in Ontario;and Co-op,ValuFoods and Village Mart in the Atlantic provinces and Quebec;Real Canadian Superstore and Extra Foods outlets across most Canadian provinces;Dominion stores,Loblaws in Quebec;Real Atlantic Superstore in the Maritimes;and Save Easy stores in the Atlantic provinces.
This recall includes New York strip loin steaks,T-bones,rib-eyes,all cuts of Kirkland Signature beef and short ribs,round steak,rib roast,stir fry strips,sirloin medallions,beef cubes,minute steak,wing steak,ground veal,flank marinating steak,sandwich steak,prime rib,boneless rib steak,rotisserie roast,pot roast,blade steak and stew meat.
Recently,XL Foods plant was closed by the inspection agency following the recall of beef products last month.
About four cases of E.coli infection have been linked to the consumption of beef products manufactured by XL Foods.
Over the last one month,about 13 more cases of E.coli infection have been reported in the Alberta province and the health authorities are investigating the cases to determine if these are linked to the consumption of the recalled products.
