Nismo, Is Set for a Rebirth Come Tuesday Next Week

Nissan’s performance arm, Nismo, is set for a rebirth come Tuesday next week. Nissan CEO, Carlon Ghosn, is set to make a major announcement regarding Nismo’s future at 10:30am Tokyo time on the 26th.

Nismo Set for Rebirth

Back in late 2011 CarAdvice reported that Nismo was undergoing major changes to become to Nissan what AMG is to Mercedes-Benz. Now, more than a year later, it seems that may become a reality.

After more than 30 years of tuning Nissan vehicles and selling countless number of Nismo stickers, it appears the brand is taking the next step with Nissan set to use the iconic tuning-house for a more consistent performance lineup of the company’s current models.

The announcement coincides with Nismo opening up its new factory that will see a more serious focus on mass-producing Nismo branded Nissans. The first such vehicle has been the Nissan Juke Nismo that has already gone on sale in Europe and Japan, with the Nissan 370Z Nismo set to be unveiled at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Nissan Australia has previously stated that Nismo vehicles may be something the Australian market may be interested in, particularly given the company’s Nissan Altima entry into V8 supercars this year.
