The Nigerian state of Lagos is working with cooperative societies to help fish farmers to boost the production of fishes.
Lagos State Agriculture and Cooperatives commissioner Lawal Gbolahan was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN)that the government has initiated the Input Service Delivery Programme to focus on the growth of fish production and this program has already focused on livestock and crop farmers.
The fishermen will pay 60%of the total cost of the price of the outboard while the government will pay the remaining 40%,said Gbolahan.
The cooperatives will also help the artisan fish farmers to acquire outboard engines and nets with no deposit paid.The institute of oceanography present is also expected to help the fishermen.
