The Roof of US Steel'S Ecorse, Michigan Facility Collapsed Thursday Night

According to local news reports, the roof of US Steel’s Ecorse, Michigan facility collapsed Thursday night when a 200-foot-long, 20-foot-wide pipe that transfers steelmaking waste broke free while a contractor was cleaning it.

No injuries were reported, and US Steel has launched an internal investigation to determine the cause of the collapse and assess damages.

The Ecorse plant is the location where one worker was killed and two others injured in an explosion in December 2013.
