Toa Eiyo has received manufacturing and marketing authorization for Bisono Tape 4mg and 8mg medicines (Bisono Tape) in Japan from the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).

Developed by Nitto Denko in partnership with Toa Eiyo, the medicine is marketed by Toa Eiyo, distributed and sold by Astellas Pharma as the world's first transdermal 1-blocker patch.

Bisono Tape is a transdermal hypertension medication, which has 4mg or 8mg of bisoprolol, a 1 selective blocking agent, can be applied to chest, upper arm or back regions once per day and should be changed every 24 hours.

The transdermal patch system can be used for various kinds of drugs to be absorbed through the skin into the body and is suitable for patients having difficulties with oral administration.

The Tape provides a stable antihypertensive effect for long periods through once-daily administration over a period of 24 hours and it is highly visible, which reduces the risk of missed or excessive dose.

The Phase III clinical trials of Bisono tape in Japan demonstrated sufficient continuous antihypertensive effects for a period of 24 hours in patients suffering from mild to moderate essential hypertension.
