According to data released by the Korea Iron and Steel Association (Kosa), Korea’s plate imports totaled 960,300 tons in the first half of this year, slumping by 46% year on year.
Among them, the plate imports from China totaled 482,100 tons, slumping by 49%; those from Japan were at 459,400 tons, decreasing by 43%, both compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.
In the given period of time, Korea’s plate exports totaled 718,200 tons, decreasing by 12% year on year. In June alone, the plate exports were at 87,800 ton, the lowest level since this year.
